Boxer Adoption Stories 2022

New Beginnings for Boxers at MustLuvBoxers Rescue

Rachel (now Olive)

Rachel (now Olive)

Adopted:

Nicole and Drew didn’t have a furry family member, but both grew up with dogs and decided they were ready to become first-time dog owners. Nicole grew up around boxers and because of their playful nature, and overall awesome personalities, she knew a boxer (or boxer-mix in this case) would be a great fit. Enter, one of the last Friends puppies – Rachel. Once she gave them that puppy look, they were hooked!

This sweet little girl now goes by the name Olive, and she is enjoying getting to know her new family. Olive gets to go on brisk morning walks with Nicole and in the evenings, there will also be walks and visits to nearby open play areas before they all unwind prior to bedtime. Drew and Nicole are very active and always on the move when the weekends get here, so Olive will get to join in on as many dog-friendly outings as possible. She will definitely be living the life!

Olive, MustLuvBoxers Rescue is so happy you found your furever family! Nicole and Drew, we sure hope to get many updates on all the fun adventures the three of you have together.

Cognac

Cognac

Adopted:

We don’t often use the term “foster fail” here at MLBR, but we know that many can identify with its meaning. In our minds though, it’s never a failure when a foster family decides to adopt their foster pup, but instead, a huge win for everyone involved. We have such a story to share today, and it’s all about Cognac. Here’s what mom Jenna told us about how this big win came to be…

“When Cognac first came to us as a foster, we immediately knew there was something special about him. While he had a bit of a rough start being picked up as a stray in California with a fishhook in his mouth, you'd never know it because he is so full of love and the absolute sweetest boy who also has a fun and goofy side to his personality. Cognac was so young, loving, well-mannered and had such a great personality, we thought he would find his forever family quickly.

Cognac settled into our home in no time. He was always giving me tons of snuggles and became my shadow, always following me around the house. His favorite place to be is always with his people. He almost immediately bonded with our young daughter also. He loves cuddling with her. The two always have so much fun playing together, and he loves it when she reads to him. Cognac has always been so gentle, patient, and sweet with her; it melts our hearts.

Cognac also really took to Hank, our 5-year-old Boxer, who we adopted from MLBR last year. Hank welcomed Cognac into our home with open paws and was ecstatic to have a playmate again. Cognac was a little timid on his own, but Hank took him under his wing and showed him the ropes. The two have formed a great bond in such a short amount of time. They both love doing zoomies and romping around together.

It very soon became apparent that Cognac was family. While we were not originally planning on adding to our pack at this time, we were all just as bonded to Cognac as he seemed to be with us. We all absolutely adore Cognac and are honored to add him to our family. We are looking forward to lots of fun, family dog-friendly adventures together, doggy playdates with family, and the continuous entertainment and lots of love that Cognac brings to our family. Welcome to the family Cognac!”

Jenna, Casey, Emma, and of course Hank, MustLuvBoxers Rescue is so very happy that you all decided to add to your pack and welcome Cognac in as one of your own. We can’t wait to hear updates about the great fun you all have together.

Johnny (now Dexter Henry)

Johnny (now Dexter Henry)

Adopted:

We love return adopters! What could make that even better though? To have yet another Foster-to-Adopt story result in a pup getting their forever home! We are happy to announce that both of these are part of this adoption announcement. Rhonda and Larry welcomed an MLBR pup into their hearts and home in mid-2022 and were now looking for another Boxer to add to their pack. In late October 2022, they raised their hand to FTA Johnny, and as the saying goes…the rest is history. Here’s what Rhonda shared about how this adoption came to be:

“After adopting our girl, Tillie Sue, from MLBR in June, we decided she needed/deserved a brother/playmate. We chose the Foster-to-Adopt approach. The moment “Dexter Henry” (our given name for him) walked into our home he and Tillie Sue became BEST buddies! They immediately started playing and didn’t stop playing for 4 hours! (Mind you, we got home from picking him up at 8:30 p.m.) We knew right then he was meant to be with our family. He and Tillie Sue bonded immediately and have been inseparable since. He is the sweetest, snuggly, most loving boy and we are so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to Foster-to-Adopt him. Our family is complete!” ~Love, Rhonda, Larry, Tillie Sue, and Dexter Henry.

Rhonda and Larry, and especially Tillie Sue, MustLuvBoxers Rescue is so happy you all decided to make Dexter Henry a permanent member of your family. We look forward to getting many updates on the great fun we know you all will have together in the coming years.

Lucas (now Duke)

Lucas (now Duke)

Adopted:

DeV is no stranger to rescuing dogs. She lost her beloved rescue pups a few years ago. When she moved into her new home, she knew another, would be in her future. DeV’s daughter had a boxer who she helped raise from a pup; she just loved the breed and their personalities. She has a soft spot for the seniors, knowing that they frequently get overlooked, so, DeV was certain she wanted to give a senior a new forever home. When she saw Lucas on our social media, she quickly submitted an application.

Lucas got to meet DeV and spend an afternoon with her, and then later they spent a whole week together at her home enjoying a sleepover “test run”. They spent quiet time getting to know each other and meeting other family members. They both thought this was a great match and look forward to many years together.

Once it was official, this senior hunk got a new name and will now be called Duke. He is going to be one very lucky and spoiled only-pup! He will get to “supervise” his mom as she works from home, enjoy a huge backyard to play in, get to be close to many beaches, see his new mom’s grandkids who live nearby, and enjoy a lot of new stuff purchased just for him!

DeV, MustLuvBoxers Rescue thanks you very much for welcoming a senior pup into your heart and home. We couldn’t be happier for Duke! Enjoy your new life Buddy, we are so glad you found your home for the holidays!

Joey

Joey

Adopted:

Nathan and Erin have 4 kids and are currently without a dog in their home. They do, however, have 3 cats, and Nathan’s mom, who lives next door, has two dogs. While Nathan and Erin never owned a boxer, they grew to really love their cousin’s boxer and decided that was the breed for their large and active family. Enter one of the last boxer-mix Friends Puppies – Joey, who immediately stole all of their hearts. Hopefully, the dog-savvy cats felt the same way!

With 4 kids around from the ages of 5 to 15, Joey is in for a lot of family fun! He’s going to have a great life going on daily walks, taking trips to local parks, and doing pretty much anything outdoors since all the kids are involved in scouts. Joey might even get a chance to meet some chickens in the future! Kids, cats, chickens…what more could a young puppy want in life?!?

Erin, Nathan, Preston, Samantha, Damien, and Xander; and of course, all the cats, and the dogs at grandma’s house, MustLuvBoxers Rescue is thrilled you welcomed Joey into your pack. We just know he’s in the perfect home. Please keep us updated on the fun adventures you all have with Joey.
